Exercise:
Show that the decay isotopeC rightarrow isotopeB +mboxp is not possible because energy would not be conserved.

Solution:
Due to Einstein's formula of mass–energy equivalence energy conservation is equivalent to mass conservation. The mass difference of the left and right side of the considered nuclear reaction is: Delta m MisotopeC - MisotopeBe -MisotopeH .u – .u – .u -.u Because the right side is heavier than the left side it means the reaction produces mass i.e. it needs energy.
