Exercise:
Microwaves with a wavlength laO are diffracted on a double slit with slit separation dO see figure scale :. Mark a po to the right of the double slit where you expect destructive ereference. Justify your choice. center includegraphicswidth mm#image_path:mikrowellen-am-doppelspalt# center

Solution:
The condition for destructive erference is that the paths for the wavelets starting from the two slits differ by m+/ lambda m in Z. Such a po can be found by drawing a circle with an arbitrary radius r_ around the first slit and a second circle around the second slit with a radius r_ with r_-r_m+/lambda. In the example r_ is half a wavelength shorter than r_. medskip includegraphicswidth.cm#image_path:beugung-von-mikrowellen-am-gitter-losung#
